Tigress Mom from the The Love&Life Family, along with the Parent-Child Center mascots Pon Pon and Look, kicked off the event with a lively dancing performance that energized the crowd. During his speech, Deputy Director Chen Zhong-liang of the Social Affairs Bureau highlighted that Taichung is a beautiful city that exists out of love. He pointed out that children are the bright future of the country and, seeing the needs of each child, the city government is implementing initiatives like expanding public daycare services, increasing the number of parent-child centers across districts, and boosting birth subsidies to support both the older and younger generations.
According to the Social Affairs Bureau, today's Parent-Child Fun Party included a performance of the new play, Shh! We Have a Secret, by the Community Nanny/Daddy Theater Troupe, which kept the audience laughing throughout. The event also featured creative obstacle courses such as “Happiness Grab,” “Shaking the Earth,” and “Hot Springs Bubble Balls,” offering both fun and challenges. Additionally, the “Home Safety Awareness” course focused on home safety, combining learning with entertainment to help families recognize potential hazards in their homes and understand preventive steps.
The Social Affairs Bureau shared that, beyond organizing awareness events, parent-child centers provide diverse services, such as age-specific play areas, parent-child activities, parenting education, and the lending of books and educational toys. Some families visit the centers almost every day, taking part in close to 400 activities each year, making the centers feel like a second home. Through these programs, children grow more confident and socially engaged, while parents also connect with other supportive caregivers. Now, they don't have to face the challenges of parenting alone.
According to the Social Affairs Bureau, since Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen assumed office, she has been dedicated to expanding the “Parent-Child Centers in Every District” initiative. In just over six years, the number of centers has grown from 4 to 17, and the goal is to establish 30 centers across 29 districts by next year. These parent-child centers offer a safe, friendly environment for children aged 0 to 6 and their caregivers to interact and learn, providing support for various parenting needs and ensuring families have easy access to comprehensive parenting resources.
