The Social Affairs Bureau explained that the city government provides the warmest support at every stage—from pre-pregnancy and pregnancy to parenting. The Good Pregnancy Transportation Subsidy is available to pregnant women who are either Taiwanese nationals registered in Taichung City or non-Taiwanese nationals whose spouses are registered residents of Taichung. Expectant mothers with due dates on or after July 1 are eligible to receive a transportation subsidy of NT$6,000 per pregnancy. Each ride is subsidized up to NT$200, for a total of up to 30 rides, helping to ease the transportation burden during pregnancy.
The Social Affairs Bureau also noted that expectant mothers can apply for the subsidy by downloading the “TC PASS” app and registering or upgrading to a “full-function member.” Once registered, the “Good Pregnancy Transportation” icon will automatically appear on the app’s homepage. Alternatively, users can click on “Frequently Used City Services” on the updated homepage and add the subsidy service for easy access and online application. To complete the application, applicants must upload the following documents: the Maternal Health Handbook, national ID card, the most recent prenatal check-up record, and the corresponding receipt. Since the 2024 edition of the Maternal Health Handbook does not include a name field on the summary page of prenatal records, applicants are kindly asked to write their name in a blank area on the page before photographing and uploading it to facilitate the review process.
The Social Affairs Bureau reminds users to proactively inform the driver that they intend to use the Good Pregnancy Transportation Subsidy when requesting a ride. To apply the fare discount, simply tap the “Good Pregnancy Transportation” icon on the “TC PASS” app or use the “Good Pregnancy Card” within the card section to access the transportation credit, then scan the payment QR code. The process is simple and convenient. Currently, 11 taxi fleets with a total of approximately 5,353 taxis have joined the service, with plans for further expansion to facilitate ride bookings for more expectant mothers.
