This year, a total of 156 outstanding social affairs personnel and 22 welfare organizations with excellent evaluation results were recognized. Among them, 53 individuals received the Senior Service Dedication Award (with 10 years of service), and 103 individuals received the Outstanding Service Award (with more than 3 years of service). Director Liao Jing-Zhi of the Social Affairs Bureau attended the ceremony on behalf of Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen to extend sincere congratulations and gratitude to all awardees, acknowledging their years of steadfast commitment and attentive support for every citizen in need.
The Social Affairs Bureau noted that the honored social affairs personnel have long been rooted across all 29 administrative districts of the city and in the Social Affairs Bureau’s various specialized divisions, providing services in areas including family welfare, child and youth protection, elderly services, women’s rights, support for individuals with disabilities, and community development. They are the bearers of the city’s warmth, translating care into action that reaches every corner of society.
Among them, social worker Ms. Hong has devoted many years to promoting policies for the elderly, from long-term care system reforms and National Health Insurance subsidies to the Senior Citizen Care Card program. Ms. Hong shared that a citizen once called seeking a photograph taken for their late mother’s Senior Citizen Care Card application, as it was the clearest image of her mother before she passed. Working together with colleagues at the district office, Ms. Hong ultimately helped locate this precious photo, deeply moving the family. Ms. Hong reflected, “The small matters we handle daily may be the most important moments in the lives of the people we serve.” This combination of compassion and professionalism represents the most treasured value of social affairs personnel.
Director Liao noted that every social affairs personnel and welfare partner is an indispensable force in keeping the city running. Facing various challenges, they consistently safeguard the welfare of citizens with professionalism and responsibility. She expressed gratitude for their long-term dedication, mutual support, and for making the city a warmer, more compassionate place.
Attending today’s event were Social Affairs Bureau Director Liao Jing-Zhi, City Councilor Liu Shih-Chou, and heads and representatives from the district offices. In addition, Vice President Jiang Chi-Chen of the Legislative Yuan, legislators Yang Chiong-Ying and Liao Wei-Hsiang, and city councilors Chen Cheng-Hsien, Shen You-Lien, Ho Wen-Hai, Chen Ching-Long, Huang Hsin-Hui, Chen Wen-Cheng, Chu Nuan-Ying, and Lin Pei-Han sent representatives to join the ceremony.
